CPI
CRISIS PREVENTION INSTITUTE
CPI is an evidence-based program that focuses on the care, welfare, safety, and security of students and staff. This curriculum provides strategies to prevent escalating behaviors, to intervene, and de-escalate risk behaviors, and to reduce or eliminate the use of restraint.
CPI may be appropriate for educators who directly intervene in crisis situations or who want to develop their skills in verbal or nonverbal communication with individuals who are experiencing distress. Participants will be guided through the verbal escalation continuum and learn recommended responses at each phase in order to better address behavioral challenges they may encounter in the field of education.
